Having been hand sewing for over a decade now, I finally decided to invest in a sewing machine for those longer straight seams that take forever. I much prefer hand sewing for doll clothes, especially for carefully shaped darts and bodices, it allows for much greater control and you can manipulate the fabric more easily as you go along; but for long skirt seams and hems, it makes sense to have something a bit faster.
Rather than splash out on an expensive machine with whizzers and bells, I went for a mini sewing machine, figuring that all I really need is straight stitch and zigzag. So I got a John Lewis mini machine. A reliable brand and moderately priced.
But best of all? Hey. It's purple. :D
It's really dinky, and sits on my shelves nicely, but it looks kinda large in that first picture, so the second is one on my desk, where you get a better sense of scale. I love it! But I'm still too nervous to use it.
Did I mention it's purple?
